Hello, and welcome. We're a tiny studio working from a sunlit corner of the UK, making prints for people whose homes revolve around the small wonders of childhood, pets, and the quiet moments in between. If you've found your way here, thank you — it really does mean the world.

Who we are

A Whimsical Tale began on a kitchen table, with a sketchbook, a strong cup of tea, and a cat asleep on the post. We're a small team of two — one drawing, one packing, both endlessly distracted by our pets. Every print we send out has, at some point, been inspected by a curious paw.

Our love of beautiful artwork

We believe a piece of art on the wall can change how a room feels. Not in a loud way — in the quiet way a soft colour catches the morning light, or the way a familiar character makes you smile on your way to put the kettle on. That's the kind of artwork we want to make: warm, considered, and made to be lived with for years.

Every illustration starts as a pencil sketch. We fuss over the line weight, the palette, the tilt of a head, until it feels right. Nothing is rushed, and nothing leaves the studio that we wouldn't happily hang above our own children's beds.

What inspires us

Childhood wonder, mostly — the kind of details a four-year-old notices and an adult forgets to. Long-necked giraffes in unlikely colours. Hares in gardens at dusk. The dog at our feet. We're drawn to soft palettes, generous whitespace, and characters that feel like old friends from the first glance.

How our prints are made

We print on heavyweight, archival, FSC-certified paper using pigment inks that hold their colour for decades. Each order is printed to size, checked by hand, and shipped from the UK in a sturdy recycled tube — no plastic, no fuss. If something isn't right when it arrives, we'll always make it right.
